Skin Resurfacing
St. Augustine, FL
What is Erbium?
Erbium laser resurfacing uses precision laser technology to remove the dull, dead outer layers of your skin to reveal fresh, new skin underneath. As a result, your skin’s texture will become smooth and plump to achieve the youthful glow and feel you want.
Erbium laser can treat both larger and smaller, more sensitive areas of your skin to address skin conditions such as
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Skin laxity
- Uneven tone
- Uneven texture
- Rosacea
- Hyperpigmented skin
- Scars
The various settings allow your provider the ability to customize your treatments.
Zen Body Aesthetics is St. Augustine’s premier medical spa, specializing in treatments for fat reduction, muscle growth, cellulite reduction, skin tightening and toning, laser hair removal, and more.
Our board-certified medical team is experienced, welcoming, and dedicated to helping you rejuvenate your skin, sculpt your body, and restore your youth.
Laser resurfacing vaporizes the top layer of your skin while causing less damage to surrounding tissues through its precision delivery. This delivery also reduces recovery time.
Your skin begins its natural healing process and stimulates collagen production after removing the dead tissue. Also, Erbium lasers can pass over the same treatment area multiple times during a single session, which means you’ll see remarkable results with fewer treatment sessions.
Erbium laser skin resurfacing will:
- Stimulate new collagen production
- Improve skin elasticity
- Tighten and tone skin
- Balance skin tone and texture
- Remove hyperpigmented skin cells
- Remove dead skin layers
- Reveal healthier, new skin
- Reduce the appearance of scars
- Reverse sun damage
There are two types of laser skin rejuvenation treatments.
Ablative laser treatment is more intense because you remove the outer layer of your skin. It is better for treating more severe signs of aging. This type of treatment offers dramatic results when compared to non-ablative treatments. Erbium laser is an ablative treatment.
Non-ablative treatments heat the underlying skin tissue to stimulate collagen and elastin production and are less invasive. Depending on downtime availability, some patients may prefer this type of treatment because of its faster recovery time. However, it may require more treatment sessions for the same result.
Who is a good candidate for Erbium laser resurfacing?
Non-ablative treatments heat the underlying skin tissue to stimulate collagen and elastin production and are less invasive. Depending on downtime availability, some patients may prefer this type of treatment because of its faster recovery time. However, it may require more treatment sessions for the same result.
Your initial visit will include a review of your history and physical examination to determine if you are a good candidate for Erbium laser resurfacing treatment. Your doctor will inform you of the risks and expectations of this procedure.
An application of local anesthetic will numb your treatment area. Then your provider will direct the Erbium laser set at a specific depth to care for your areas of concern. Treatment time averages 20 minutes for full-face treatments.
Aftercare instructions will be provided by your provider to optimize your results. Additionally, our SkinCeuticals Post Ablative kits are available to enhance results and decrease your downtime.
General infection protocol, like washing your hands prior to touching your face, avoiding makeup, and washing your face with a gentle cleanser is recommended. Additionally, you will need to limit your sun exposure to protect your new skin!
You will see decreased lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, and acne scars after just one treatment, but you can repeat Erbium treatments every 3 to 4 weeks to maximize the treatment effects. Full results can be seen about 3 months after your last treatment.
Complete healing after the initial treatment may take up to two weeks, depending on which area was treated. Your body will begin its natural healing process immediately after treatment, and new skin will appear in 5 to 7 days.
Your results will last until typical age-related and environmental factors continue their normal progression, but most people choose to have a series of three treatments about every 18 months.
Plan for social downtime in your schedule for about 10 days while your skin heals and recovers. Most people typically return to their usual activities within a week after their procedure.
Pinkness and flaking are usual side effects that you’ll experience 1 to 2 days after treatment. Some additional side effects may include:
- Mild swelling
- Discomfort
- Redness
- Flaking
- Peeling
If you are prone to cold sores, your provider can prescribe medications to reduce your risk of reactivating cold sores.
How much does Erbium laser cost?
Erbium laser treatments can be purchased individually or in a package of treatments. Your provider will discuss the anticipated number of treatments necessary to help you meet your goals. The Erbium laser treatment works very well in conjunction with Alma Harmony’s Dye-VL, an IPL treatment to eliminate reds and browns on the skin, and ClearLift, a non-invasive laser to lift, tone, and tighten skin.
Factors that influence the cost of your laser resurfacing treatment include:
- Type of laser used
- Length of treatment time
- Area of treatment
After Erbium laser resurfacing, you’ll notice brighter, radiant-looking skin with a smoother texture. Your fine lines and wrinkles will be replaced with plump and more youthful-looking skin. The appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation are reduced an all around softer appearance.
Reduce the appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation and erase fine lines and wrinkles for a softer appearance.
